Umoja means Together or Unity in Kiswahili. The Umoja baskets are handwoven with natural sisal and up-cycled yarn, with hand-stitched leather handles. Featuring brightly coloured designs or striking black and natural geometric patterns, every robust Umoja basket is hand-made by women belonging to basket weaving cooperatives in eastern and central Kenya.
Baskets from the Umoja collection are available in four different sizes, making great storage baskets, laundry baskets, toy baskets, beach baskets, and for carrying those every day shopping items.
When you order an Umoja basket from Manabaskets, you are empowering women weavers, and supporting Manasprings, a charitable organisation that supports grassroots women leaders caring for vulnerable and disadvantaged communities.
